Sparring Head Guards

Sparring head guards are provide protection against head injuries which can be fatal. Some guards do not have padding on the top of the head (boxing). Some head gear can include cheek protection. Head guards can be either Semi full or full contact. The padding used is often dipped foam for semi contact. Top Ten use the higher density Bay flex.

Sparring Kickboxing Punches Gloves

Sparring gloves again can be either semi or full contact. Full contact gloves have various weights 8oz and 10oz for competition and 12-16oz for training. Obviously the gloves protect the hand, some gloves protect the thumb from getting bent back others dont. Dipped foam is often used for semi contact. Top Ten use the higher density bayflex. It is important to note that WAKO rules require a closed finger punch to prevent fingers poking eyes.

Sparring Kicks and Shin Guards

Kicks and shins protect the feet and shins from injury. The same dipped foam and bayflex material is used to the semi contact. Some kicks have a mesh base to assist grip on jigsaw mats tatami.

Martial Arts Groin Guards

While men need to protect the family jewels female groin guards are also important. Guards are adjustable and vary in brand, colour and cup size.

Gum Shields

Gum shield also known as mouth guards protect both the teeth from clashing together and help prevent brain trauma. They have the additional benefit of protecting the gums. Gum shield can either be single or double. Singles guard the top set of teeth and the doubles protect both sets. Doubles can provide specialy designed airways in the center and sides. Gum shields vary in thickness absorbing more shock accordingly. Gum shield for braces are available. The mouth guards are generally moulded by softening them with hot water.
